The beauty of Halloween in Arizona is the weather. Every year we sit out in front of our home, order pizza and give out candy. Sometimes, we need a light jacket.

The Phoenix 10k

It used to be called the New Times 5 & 10k. Now, it's back in downtown Phoenix and you can run it on November 9th. This is a picture from the 2006 race in downtown Tempe. I ran the 5k, I think it was the third race I ever ran. This year, I plan to run the 5k and then the 10k. I'll get about a 10 minute break between races.

Apache Trail

Looking for a scenic drive around Phoenix? Do the Apache Trail. It's a long winding road, some asphalt, some dirt along the lakes to the east of Phoenix. At the halfway point is the village (?) of Tortilla Flat, pictured below. The best place to get a burger during your drive. OK, it's the only place. Don't forget to put a dollar on the wall.

Mogollon Rim

The northern half of Arizona is separated by the Mogollon Rim. Here's a view looking south.

This is what you get when you let your kid have the camera while you drive.

That's me driving my Honda Pilot. I bought it used, which is supposed to be very green thing to do. You don't add another vehicle in the world. You can see my GPS, which get's me places, while using less gas.

Robin Hood

Tyler, the archer in the family achieved a rare feat. It's called a 'robin hood'. It's when you shoot an arrow into the back of anothr arrow. It's much more impressive if both are bullseyes. He did his at Archery Headquarters in Chandler. At about 20 meters with a compound bow.

Albuquerque?

No, a few years back Chandler used to have a balloon festival too. It was on a smaller scale, but the night glow was always a winner.

We visited Pueblo Grande Musuem in Phoenix a few years back.

Scouting

Give me a big lake, a big ball and a friend. This is one of a string of lakes to the east of metro Phoenix. My son's scout troop camped right on the lake, canoed around the inlet and saw more stars than I had ever seen. Also, more skunks.

Running Towards Myself

With mold, they tent your area off and use a fan to dry it. Notice what they did to our carpet.

The title is a Joe Arpiao reference.

Mold!

When you have a leak, you often times get mold. When you get mold, everything gets removed. Like your kitchen island. Then they tent the whole kitchen and use a fan to dry everything out.

Of course, you then have to take the shot, with a model too boot.

Swim Lessons

Swim lessons are big in Arizona. This is at one of the Chandler city pools. The lesson today, don't dive like this!

An Oldie

My son, Tyler about 6 years ago. He's a senior in high school now. Feeding the Giraffe at the Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield Park, AZ.

Treo shot

I have two cameras. One, is my Kodak EasyShare. One, is my Treo phone. While the treo doesn't have a flash and doesn't necessarily take as good a shot as my Kodak, at least I have it all the time.

In Chandler, we don't have a lot of storm drains. So each neighborhood usually has water retention areas for the occasional downpour. Here's one in my 'hood. During the dry times, we use it like a park. When it rains, the water will flow down the street and into this catch basin.

Kids love to play in the temporary lake. Sometimes you even see the sprinklers going off and you get an impromptu fountain. Now that would be a picture!

35,000 feet up?

We are traveling back from a vacation to Ohio and Indiana today. This is an archived shot from one of our earlier travels. I'd like to say it's Arizona down there, but I don't remember. Does it look familiar to you? We must be nearing landing, because the plane is not at 35k at this point.

What's This?

Hint: I'm a Realtor and I was at a large Condo developement.

Answer: These are the lockboxes that Realtors use to store the house keys. This condo community keeps all the keys in one location. You might be used to seeing these boxes on your front door.

The Metropolitain in Chandler

A developer is planning this large retail/condo project right next to the Chandler Fashion Center. What's the chance it'll ever get built? They haven't broken ground yet and they are planning seven 5 story buildings, a couple single story buildings and an underground garage.

I sell homes for a living and wasn't it a surprise to see a Kiva in someone's back yard. So, not only can you buy a home, but it comes with a Kiva.
